Thoughts on the new Plasma Caster. Before we get in to the actual gun itself, I gotta say that it's very strange to see the ability to craft legendary items through this. Now, as a heavy weapons build, this weapon packs a punch. With all 3 Heavy Gunner cards maxed out, I can usually do a whopping 240-ish damage with this weapon.Gmg for sustained fire and overall DPS, plasma caster for single shot damage and extreme range. The gmg is a typical heavy gun, whereas the caster is more of a vats weapon. Very different roles. Both are good in theirs. If you are power armor, I'd go with the gmg; vatsing in normal armor, the caster, but, again, very different roles.

It was the first generation of plasma weapon and was unwieldy and inaccurate. The plasma rifles we have come to love since Fallout 3 are the result of further generations of research and refinement.The highest dps heavy with no spin up would probably be the lmg.
