Hi guys, Over the weekend, I purchased a 1986 Mercury XR2 150. I have read up on the motor but, I want more specific details on the motor. For example, what rpms does it runs, the timing ignition, exhaust housing, carbs, etc. Everything that sets is apart from the 150 Black Max I replaced it with. I have a 1985 mercury 150 blackmax xr2. New plugs, good compression, getting fuel. It starts and idles fine, but stops revving up after 4000-4200rpm. Its like it hits a rev limiter. This is causing it to not plane out.
